A contractor hired by The Color Run race used a chorine bleach mixture to wash city streets of the powder it used during the race. This bleach mixture drains into our creeks and waterways and cannot be good for the environment.

Raleigh needs to do a couple things here in my opinion.
1) Restrict the number of permits they issue for street closing runs downtown. Already have plenty, and an area that is extremely proud of their parks systems should take more advantage of it.
2) Let's be careful calling this a "run". If you were out the other day and witnessed this, it's the furthest thing from it. It's people jogging in packs in most cases lobbing powdered chemicals at each other. It should not be considered a 5k, let alone be given the same treatment as such.
The cleanup process is unfortunate as well.
Just being honest.
