This isn't Ferguson, COR police. Stop harassing people on Fayetteville St. We are all having a good time and being peaceful. Stop harassing and threatening bar patrons on Fayetteville St!! If we need you, we will call you. It's unnecessary to have a militaristic attitude toward people trying to have fun on the weekend. You should be welcoming people to downtown, not scaring them off.

Nothing wrong with being downtown and having fun. But there are problems related to nightlife in a residential area that need attention.
Responsible bar owners from midnight till closing or screaming on the streets from 11:45 PM till 3:00 AM and finding vomit and trash on the streets Saturday and Sunday Morning is a problem for us all.
Of course Raleigh isn't Ferguson and the suggestion that our police are out of line in a downtown area known for trouble is regretful.
Comments that "people who don't like noise should not live downtown" are off point because seasoned city dwellers are used to all sorts of noise--traffic, ambulances, occasional shouts, and other city noises. What they will not accept and do not get in "grown up" cities like New York are clubs playing music so loud that it can be heard in residential units and patrons disturbing the peace.
