This NHI article states that a daycare would be a way to bridge the gap between Sci Park and Dixwell/NewHall.
There is much need for a community room a web access in both of these neighborhoods.
The Rose center is exclusive to those enrolled in programs and the library is too far for many. Science park is a good neutral area for kids to have a community room.
Click "I want this fixed too" if you believe that a community room would benefit the negihborhood.

Hey Michael,
Totally agreed. I am proposing a separate and secure access point on the same property disconnected from the daycare?
Thoughts?

Good point Mr. Dunlap. I hadn't considered that.
How about a computer kiosk "phone booth?"

It's a big parcel of land; as long as the day care building (and its playground - I assume it would have one) can be secured, there is no reason not to also have a community room.
Of course, that all depends on the developer...a community room would have to be staffed and maintained which means more cost. Does the city have any fund to cover this sort of thing? The Science Park Development Corporation wants a day care as an amenity for their tenants, the article says. I wonder how much supporting the local community factors into their plans.

I'm not sure who would pay or if there could be a separate community foundation grant for this.
The city is giving away the land for little money. Maybe it could be a contingency.

If Win Stanley would provide a discounted rent to a group like Javaughn's in that space that would be great.
A coffee shop sounds like a viable business as well.

Hey JJ,
Have you been using the Our Place computer room at all?

My understanding was that this particular empty space was going to be apartments - has that changed?
Regarding the garage 1st floor: Daycare, coffee shop, deli-style breakfast/lunch counter, gym, dry cleaners - all would be readily welcome by tenants of Science Park, and would benefit the local community, too.

I am closing this issue as I just found out that Monterey Place does in fact have computers and web access and that "Our Place" has computers in Newhallville.
