I have seen signs in Saskatoon and Calgary that state "This lane ends in 200 meters" or some other distance. I have only seen "squeeze left/right" which doesn't say the lane ends or just move over in your lane. Can the city update the portable signage?
well unless things have changed since I took driver training, with multiple lanes you are to keep right except to pass. Also, through traffic have the right of way and merging traffic must yield to them. not the other way around.
agreed, but some people HOG the left lane and wait till the last second to get into the exit lane (Shellbrook overpass - going Northbound) just so they can beat the traffic going in the same direction .... also the left lane warriors that FEEL the need to be in that lane and not even have anyone to pass and NOT doing the speed limit, where are the police?
i m all for letting people in when its safe to do so however when merging it is a diffrent story thats like blowing threw a yeild sign when their is fast driving cars coming at you ????
The whole point of merging is to adjust your speed so that you can go BETWEEN vehicles. It is only common courtesy to move over to make room for mergers, not a traffic law. The green overhead signs that show which lane to be in to get to your destination are to let you know how to get where you're going, not a regulatory sign saying you have to be in that lane. Regulatory signs are black and white.
Something for you to notice the next time you are attempting to merge at this location...you have a yield sign. If you had your own lane to drive into, this would be marked just like they mark them in Saskatoon. @Lacey...Good comment.
