Description
Hello,I am MiguelPerez the property homeowner of 552 Russell st. New Haven,CT. As you maybe already aware I sent your staff an Email a couple of weeks ago regarding a tree that was nearly ready to collapse due to it being a dead tree! one of your tree crew expert assessed the tree and tag it with an emergency notice to remove the tree within 10 days of its notice, however on day 8 of the original notice the tree came crashing down on its own due heavy rain and wind.. thankfully no one was hurt but upon the tree coming off from its roots ,it did destroyed the sidewalk making it very dangerous and hazardous for pedestrians to walk on a public sidewalk and not to mention my father in-law who's in a wheel chair! Please send someone over to the site to @#$% the damage! Thankyou for your cooperation and by the way your public works and tree crew men did an excellent job in removing the tree and cleaning the debris off my property please pass this message on to them as I myself am an employee of the State Of Conn. DOT and I know what it means to be acknowledged for a job well done!

First step is to have Public Works inspect the location and make a determination about the sidewalk. If there is a city factor impacting the sidewalk's condition (ie. tree) then the city is responsible for grinding/repair. If damage is caused by wear/tear/neglect and would pose a safety hazard, we at Public Works will try to alleviate the hazard by patching it and then deem a full repair is the "resident's responsibility".
In some cases, if area being impacted is severe and involves more than one address, area can be reviewed by the Resource Allocation Committee for a major project. Engineering would oversee new sidewalk replacements.
We at Public Works will always work with property owners to explore how best to get the work done.
