OK, I'll bite. How about enforcing odd/even parking during storms to start. My 6th grader thinks it will work, me too.

Wait, what planet are we talking about? Yes Marco, simply enforcing the parking ban would have helped, if only that had happened.

Write opinions that actually say something of value. If you have suggestions on how to make it better, voice them. We have their ear. I have all along been saying tha parking ban needs to go into place BEFORE it snows. They didn't listen. However, when have they ever done this level of snow removal? It isn't perfect, and still a lot of people are very unhappy. But try to be part of the solution, not just a noise maker.

Thank you for snow removal. It helps a lot.The other thing that changed this year, and that I hope stays, is that when parking ban is declared, it is always on the odd side. So even if it is not declared before it snows, those who want to can be prepared, and communication is a lot better than previous years - namely, we are being informed with a few hours lead time to dig out the cars (thank you Lisa for the backup notices). yes, it would make more sense to look at the forecast and declare parking ban each time there are 4" predicted, but we'll take what we get. February is almost over...

It hasn't been perfect but there is no doubt In my mind the snow removal this year is the best in 20 years.

This was a particularly tough winter, and it takes a lot of training to get the "new system" in place, and I believe this is a great beginning, I can now suggest to new people coming into New Haven a new system that seems to work better and that is 1) The city offers parking in various garages and /or schools 2). One side of the road is completely plowed at one time during the ban. Its a great beginning for hopefully a responsive team. Good Work, DPW, Doug and Toni Harp!

Downtown snow removal - overall great, big thanks to Win and the Ambassadors for really helping out. The sidewalk on the bridge on Chapel going over the train however is a major hazard due to the ice that has formed. This needs to be addressed.

Oh and the bus stops. Clearing those should be a high priority.

Years ago, when we had tremendous mountains of snow piling up on our
street corners and road ways, the city would send out trucks with plows and haul the snow into large trucks and then dumped the snow at Long Whart. that seemed to work well clearing away the corners of mountains of snow. no so this time. oh, Lord, bring back the *old* days.................Smile.
