I was there the other day and a guy in the fire lane opened his door so wide I almost took it off, I could not get over because there was a huge truck coming the other way and he was over as far as he could be, These people are a danger and it needs to stop. Where are the police? I used to see them patrol the parking lots, I do not see them anymore and I am up there all hours and different days.

Unfortunately the police may not be able to do too much. The area is posted as "No Parking", which allows a vehicle to remain there, as long a licensed driver remains with the vehicle. The area SHOULD be posted as "No Standing" which would prohibit vehicles from occupying the space. This isn't a police problem, it is a WalMart problem, but moreso a comment on the abject laziness of today's society (especially us younger folks....the cars there are usually occupied by able bodied younger persons, like me. I park in the back and walk...I need the exercise)

Re-locate ths store as the amount of parking spaces has always been insufficient. After the store relocates, they can add a drop-off/pick-up area. All Walmart employees should not be allowed to park in front of the store. We don't need more handicapped parking spaces. We need the vehicles that have handicapped status to be actually transporting someone who is legitimately handicapped. It is illegal to park in a handicap-designated parking space unless the person for whom the handicap designation was awarded is actually in the vehicle. Many people assume that because the vehicle has the designation that they can park in the handicap spaces regardless of who is in the vehicle. The holidays are here...and so are the dents from the runaway carts that people are too lazy to bring to the cart bins. I avoid Walmart whenever I can. Happy holidays.

So true.Amazing how when you attempt to go there besides the people packed in front the parking lot is full and when you go inside the store has less people/ I simply hate this dirty store and its rude staff and the human trash in the store.Wont go there don't go there .Simply start planning ahead hit the other stores for the deals and they aren't that far apart from each other.We usually start at Shop Rite,Aldis,hannaford then done. You really don't need disgusting WALMART......

Not only is it dangerous for drivers but folks walking out of the store pushing shopping carts have to play Frogger to get aroubd the illegal and double parkers and get across to their cars.

I agree. This area is a mess. I taken a radical solution approach to this. I don't shop at Walmart. True, they have the cheapest prices and its difficult to get oneself to pay more at a local store but think about this: Why support jobs overseas? Walmart's products are all made in China. Want to help the US economy? Then... Don't get aggravated, pay a little more, support your local store, and Walmart will be a thing of the past.

I am physically challenged and WILL NOT patronize Walmart because of this issue and the fact that there is inadequate "handicapped parking spots". Inside the store it's even more unbearable. I have difficulty standing and have to stand and wait far too long to check out. Walmart is all about the bottom line and cares little about it's customers.

Im disabled and not lazy...i leave someone in the car if i park there so it can be moved...dont name call and dont complain plz get a life

There are spots for disabled people..and posted signs nothing wrong with that if your guilty and you you needed to state you are ah disabled fine ...but try to comprehend what you read..
all comments are based on people parking in front of the store and blocking it and the narrow roadway.....if your really disabled get dropped off ,move into the store then have your driver park your car/truck in the proper spot......there is no EXCUSE AND DONT PUSH PEOPLE AROUND AND YELL IM DISABLED ...

And you see Town Of Ulster police ride through and issue NO summons. They need to start writing them up for a few days and the word will spread. It IS part of your JOB, or do you think your to good to write parking tickets

This problem could easily be solved if Walmart management would make a formal complaint to Ulster Police and request ticketing. Also, the "no parking" signs need to be changed to "no standing".
This problem is so bad that a lot of people don't even want to venture into Walmart, but instead opt to go to Target across the street. This fiasco doesn't exist at the Hudson or Catskill stores. Those two stores are much cleaner and easier to park at. Even the more crowded Albany store is better managed. Our Kingston store is the only mess.

People like ncvnvbnc are part of the problem. The fact that a car is there, someone in the car or not, still makes it difficult to drive or walk around you. Just because someone is sitting in the car doesn't mean the problem is alleviated. The person in the car intends to move only in the case of an emergency. Anonymous is correct: get dropped off and have your driver park the car. When you're coming out of the store, then your driver can pick you up in front. The area is for pick up, loading, and drop-off only.

if I go to walmart I drive thirteen miles to Catskill instead of three miles to Kingston. Reasons-- more parking ,cleaner store, employees aren't rude,more of a selection of items

This is very bad, and even worse, is the fact that Kingston's Walmart store has a race track right in front of the main doors. No stopping for people trying to go from parking area to store! I have told managers many times. Walmart does not care if people get run down.

This Walmart is a dirty unruly store . Dangerous to walk to and from . They should move to a larger area and clean up their act

I've looked though the comments and believe that the police have better things to do with their time than to write parking tickets for a private corporation. Walmart can easily fix the issue seeing that they bring in billions of dollars of profit each year.

they don't write tickets for a corp. the money goes to The Town of Ulster not walmart. People park in the fire zone so they should write them so fire and ems can park if they need to

Obviously, Wal Mart will not do anything, Robert. Although, the police don't like to do it, it is part of their job, get a rooking up there, they will have to write tickets for a couple of weeks before people start to catch on (hopefully). I bet Robert parks in the fire zone.

Really Robert. Please tell me what the Ulster police force has to do that is so important. A crime is a crime or are we to pick and choose. I contacted the Ulster Police Dept. and expressed my concerns about this issue and they of course passed the buck to the store management. They did say they would increase patrols at that location. However, illegal actions are the resposibility of law enforcement, NO?But it seems because nothibg is done about this illegal parking it had spread to other stores so I guess it will treated like everthing else and that is with apathy until someone is injured or killed attempting to cross the driving lane between illegally parked cars.

Unfortunately there is now problems all over and people do park wherever they feel especially if walking is involved.
This doesn't excuse the stores from stepping up to the plate and doing something.There is many things they could do,rope it off ,signs with the rope,orange cones etc....and it should be ENFORCED because WALMART is the biggest offender and this make for driving in the area tight,dangerous etc...and the main reason i WONT shop at walmart period second reason the people who shop there wow quite disastrous and quite rude and arrogant and looking for special treatment ..

Walmart is a Private Corporation that can easily fix the issue by redesign an outdated parking lot. Walmart may also want to hire security to handle those that park out in front of their business by simply telling them to move. The Ulster Police should be helping to keep the streets safe not being revenue agents for a town, that would be a meter maids job.

As for the comments about me personally. I don't park at Walmart period as no longer shop there. I'd much rather support local businesses than a multinational corporation. IMO, If Walmart does nothing, they deserve nothing.

there is a problem a lot of people have returned to shop rite and boy you can tell the place is packed anymore and the parking by the doors over there is getting to be a problem
these stores could very well solve the problem by placing horses in front very close to the yellow line and if people continue on parking the store needs to call police for illegal parking
these horses aren't very expensive neither

I usually leave here and go shopping in Poughkeepsie.It takes us all day ,but we shop one huge major trip including groceries.
We notice more and more the police are showing up checking handicap tickets ,parking in front of the store and when the people came out they were schoked when they were told they were getting a ticket because it clearly states about 10 signs on the price chopper grocey NO PARKING ,NO PARKING..I LOVED IT I WANTED T RUN OUT OF MY CAR AND HUG THIS POLICE OFFICER....
SO see if the wrongs are taken care of immediately s.... wouldnt happen...
All these stores should change the whole area ,rope it off make em all walk into the store..period it could look like a large roped square or use horses to block it off..... problem solve and its cheap
