Descrizione

I have been seeing an increased number of wrecks and erratic/hazardous driving (lane swerving, brake slamming) on main downtown through roads (i.e. McDowell, Dawson, Salisbury, Wilmington) and have come to notice that much of this is due to the difficulty of reading the street signs. For the number of new and visiting residents in the area, it would be helpful to have large, clearly visible signs with each intersecting street name above the intersection, or at least signs on the side of the roads stating the name of the road at the upcoming light.

The current signs are difficult to read (especially at peak traffic times) as they are placed on the corners of 3-4 lane roads, and some are difficult to see due to obstruction by trees. By the time people can see which road is at the intersection, they make a rash decision to change lanes and cut someone off, or they just ride up the street at 5mph until they find the street they are looking for, which causes backups and safety hazards for everyone else on the road.
