The homeowner of 265 Bradley needs to trim the bushes that border their house. The bushes are overgrown onto the sidewalk and prevent vehicles pulling out of the driveways of the Presbyterian Church and the law office from seeing pedestrians until they have almost run them over. I have already asked the homeowner to trim the bushes over a month ago and nothing has happened. Is this something the city can enforce?

P. Is the problem blight (trash, etc) outside, or is it a problem with the building (illegal use, housing code violation, etc)?

Well I commend the citizen for first asking the property owner. Has anyone gone further, perhaps to offer to do the trimming (I've done such for my elderly neighbor). I worry that this site could become the digital equivalent of East German block committees, creeping into private space. This reporting won't get extended to reporting unraked leaves, or lead tests of neighbors' peeling houses, or noisy neighbors, or Republican election signs in yards, or.... Right?
City of New Haven...where do you draw the lines? And what to make of the reality that this issue is hardly unique to this address...does government enforce selectively based on our reports, or will government be compelled to start a neighborhood enforcement action?

The owners of the house are not elderly. They are a young, able-bodied family. And blight and noise control are issues that can be enforced with laws (though not ones that pertain to this thread. I'm responding to the "unraked leaves" and "noisy neighbors" comments).
The reporter seems interested if there is some ordinance or way to get this enforced since asking the owners hasn't succeeded.
