Time to seriously consider tough new Anti-vagrancy laws in Vallejo.
We need to implement a Sit/Lie ordinance across Vallejo, that and other tough love laws to force these homeless to get clean and accept help to get off the street or if they don’t like it they can get out of town.

The problem is that there isn't enough help available for the homeless in Vallejo. Try being part of the solution rather than the problem. Telling people you don't like to get out of town is not a solution.

I would love to find ways to be compassionate and help the homeless.
However take a drive around Vallejo, go past the CVS parking lot on Sonoma Blvd and the Walmart Neighborhood Market and other empty parking lots in the area, the old abandoned Walmart by meadows Dr.
These folks live like pigs, constantly littering and throwing trash wherever they please. Drug use, indecent exposure, leaving human waste everywhere, animal abuse, and the list goes on.
A lot of the so-called homeless in Vallejo are lazy Transients and vagrants that don’t accept services when they are offered. They want to do their own thing. I have ZERO compassion for these shameless non self respecting bums.
These folks mess it up for the good homeless that actually want help.

Vallejo is not alone in experiencing a massive surge in homelessness/people living out of their cars. It's not an issue of increased addiction or mental illness, for the most part. It's a systemic problem in the Bay Area of the complete lack of anything resembling affordable housing. San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley are all seeing a massive increase in people living in cars, RVs and tents. Passing new or enforcing existing sit/lie ordinances will not make the problem go away. Telling people to get out of town will not make the problem go away. What Vallejo and other cities need is the approach Oakland is starting: setting up city-managed RV parking sites with secure parking, sanitary facilities and garbage services.

I completely agree about the city sanctioned RV parking, but if they act like they do now(throwing trash everywhere) they will only get kicked out of the RV parking area.

Mr. Walker, thank you for attempting to stay on top of things. This vehicle has now been pushed to the 2100 of Illinois St. The people living in this car are serious drug users. They continue to stay close to this area so they have access to the drugs being sold out of the apartments on this block. I cannot understand why the city refuses to tow this car, it hasn't been registered in two years.

And who will oversee this wonderful "RV park" full of homeless drug addicts? Most of the people living on the streets in this town have been informed of the numerous resources available for the homeless in the Bay Area multiple times. Many choose to stay in the streets so they can continue to use drugs. This is a public safety/health issue for everyone. Time to change course. The current system is only making the situation worse.

Not condoning littering but I'm only aware of two public trash cans in the area located at Grant Mahoney Park. There are simple solutions that also create jobs for the Vallejoans. Texas implemented a program that hires homeless people to perform street cleaning duties.

Hi Ms King, and thanks for all that you do to try and stay on top of things as well. You may recall that I had some success with the Community Services Section within the past two weeks removing a squatter camping outside my fence as well removal of two derelict vehicles parked on my block. Perhaps now that this issue has been assigned to Christina E. in the CSS, this vehicle can be permanently removed from the neighborhood as well.
