Description
This has been an issue for many years. We have tried to escalate it through 311, our council persons office, watershed management, and others. There needs to be a storm water drain at this location. Without it the ADA ramp and crosswalk are completely blocked every time it rains. And it takes several days for that to evaporate

SWIT TEAM wrote today, in part, "Installing a new catch basin in the roadway would be very expensive and there are numerous other issues that can be addressed that have more serious public safety concerns at this time."
In other words, let's kick this can down the road. It's been several years already. There is a preschool in the adjacent building and preschoolers have to walk out into the middle of a major street thoroughfare (McLendon Avenue) to go around this puddle.
I just want to know where this issue is in the queue and if there is a target resolution date. I will continue to reach out to Engineering, as other neighbors have done over the years, and at least I have a transparent open record here that can't be deleted.

Here's the full response from today, 4/26/18. Wasn't sure, so I redacted names. But this is a record.
Yes, and I actually have you on my calendar to respond to you today with an update.
We have investigated this issue to see what other contribution factors may be involved in this matter. Our field engineer found a few stormwater basins in the area that needed cleaning and our Sewer Operation crews for Preventative Maintenance have cleaned out these structures.
While we believe that a continual overlay of pavement over the years has contributed to the ponding stormwater at this intersection, we are still looking at some financially feasible options to help reduce standing water at this location. We discussed this matter with the City’s Department of Public Works (DPW) at our monthly meeting this week and have asked their engineer to investigate what options DPW might have to help get positive drainage down to the nearest curb inlet. Installing a new catch basin in the roadway would be very expensive and there are numerous other issues that can be addressed that have more serious public safety concerns at this time.
We will follow up with DPW in the near future and let you know what possible improvements can be applied to this issue.
Thank you.

No date specified for other options for positive drainage at this T-intersection. This T-intersection adjacent to preschool where families must walk into oncoming East-West traffic while morning drivers are blinded by morning sun.

Yesterday's email from the SWIT team (Stormwater Investigative Team) 5/25/18:
"While we do have some limited MOST funding for stormwater projects, we have already allocated the most recent funding to projects that were in the queue quite a long time ago, and are still addressing issues that have a more severe impact to the drainage and protection of the roadways. We did have our team has inspect the drainage inlets in the same area and did find some that needed cleaning, so we then referred this work to our DWM crews to have the structures cleaned out.
In spite of our efforts to clean the stormwater basins along this area, we believe that this matter is better addressed by the City’s Dept. of Public Works (DPW), to help address roadway paving options that can better help to drain this specific area. Installation of new stormwater inlets and pipes would for this one area would be very costly and not the most effective use of the limited funding we have available.
We will remind DPW about this issue and see if they can directly respond as to their options and schedule to assist in resolving this matter."

Good afternoon, we received this information regarding this issue;
"The issue has been brought to DPW-OOT attention. We are currently looking at all options available that will permanently fix this issue. As noted, one option is resurfacing the portion of the street where the ponding is happening or another option is installing a drainage system. Both options require more extensive work than noted, affects multiple properties, and will need funding that is currently unavailable from either departments. An assessment and report was completed and once reviewed, we can provide a more solid answer on the next steps."
Once provided an update, we will ensure to relay the message!

For the record, there is an email chain now and current response from Jim Seufferlein is below. Jim is DWM | Project Manager | Office of Engineering Services | Strategic Asset Management Division. Bill Douty, Jim’s supervisor, is also on the chain.
Picture is from today.
Per Jim onOct30, 2018:
“The Dept. of Watershed Management has been asked to offer the Dept. of Public Works (DPW) some design options, which should be completed very shortly and forwarded to DPW for their review and response.”
Previously on Sept 27:
“At the recent request of Public Works (DPW), our staff at Watershed Management are going to help support DPW with an better engineered solution to help DPW address these concerns. You should see our survey team out in this same area sometime in the next few weeks to begin collecting formation helpful to provide the most economical solution to this roadway construction issue.
Once we have the necessary information, we will forward the options/recommendations to DPW.”

Did this ever get fixed?
Also, I'm not able to find case number 1162386669 on atl311.com - is there an updated case number? (assuming it's still open)
