Description
We reside in a 30 units condominiums building known as OCEANSIDE on Beach Street in West Haven.. The speeding and THE NOISE MAKING is unbearable.
Several years ago we had a meeting with the mayor to discuss the SPEEDING and the UNBEARABLE NOISE issues. Nothing was done.
Police present in the summer was tried ,but as soon as they go the speeders and the noise makers return. SPEED BUMPS are the only answer to these problems. They where placed all over the beach streets of Milford. Also on several streets in New Haven. In all these locations the problem was solved and there where no accidents.
WE ARE ASKING FOR SPEED BUMPS ON BEACH STREET IN WEST HAVEN

I agree with most of what you suggest but KNOWING THE FISCAL SITUATION OF WEST HAVEN , your suggestion is good but IF it will be considered and executed it will take several years.
By the mean time the ONLY solution that We see is SPEED BUMPS. Speed bumps can be installed quickly and relative to your GREAT suggestion , it will be much less expensive. If and when the major changes that you suggest, and we are in favor of, will be executed the SPEED BUMPS can easily be removed.

We are asking the aouthorities, MAYOR and POLICE to do something about it. We are law obiding citizens and residents of WEST HAVEN. Our taxes on the beach are much higher then envy in other parts of town where we can see SPEED BUMPS and better controls.

Nothing was done YET to reduce the noise level.
New issue
The road condition is deplorable it is in need of new REPAVING from Washington Ave to First street.
It is the last section with DIRECT WATER VIEW left in West Haven. THE OCEANSIDE 30!units condominiums where successfully developed few years ago and adding about $300,000.00 in tax revenues to New Haven. Development in the area stopped because the downturn of the state economy. It is coming back now and there are plans for more NEW developments in this unique section of TOWN.
Pease drive on BEACH STREET and you will see what I mean deplorable conditions Such road condition is typical to third world countries. We should not allow ours to turn to one.
We are ASKING TO HAVE BEACH STREET REPAVED. and prepare it to a better future.

I completely agree with everyone regarding the noise and repaving subject on Ocean, Beach and First ave. 110% . The speeding / noise needs to stop and the paving needs to happen ASAP.
I belong to a committee called the (First Ave Safety committee). (FASC) We are about 60 members strong and are all mostly reside on First Ave from Brown St down to the May St (boat ramp).
In 2013 we (FASC) worked with the WH Mayor and WH Police dept to have the "West haven Drag Strip" clipped at the source, in our section of First ave. We had added, or got approved for a 4 way Stop Sign on the corner of First St & Brown St. 2 months after a fatal accident occurred 20 feet from where a Stop Sign was supposed to be prior.
The Town and Police dept pulled through for us amazingly and the Stop Sign was implemented.
The road noise, drag racing and seasonal speed cruising almost went away over night. Not one accident has occurred since the 4 way stop sign was implemented. We really wanted speed bumps, but the mayor at the time did not like that idea, so we went with what would get approved the fastest and it still worked. But we the (FASC) know that the speed bumps would be even a better additional solution. Basically, speed and noise offenders would be forced to take another route.
If you all would like, I can help to offer a acceptable street plan in order, on your end of the street and get a similar solution implemented with the WH police and Mayor. We are here to help.

Beach street is the last hidden treasure that West Haven has left. It is very valuable and desired location.
The city is doing nothing to develop this tax haven. We would like to receive help in improving the situation that where mentioned in this forum before.:
Road is crumbling
Noise from bikers is unbearable
Traveling speed is not enforced
UNDEVELOPED ABANDON MOTEL AND RESTAURANTS are attracting drug users and criminals
Time to pay attention to this hidden treasure peace if REALESTATE. THERE IS ROOM TO DEVELOP and improve the tax base for the city of WEST HAVEN.
It is outrageous that for a 2 bedroom CONDOMNUMS that is now selling for an average price of $300,000.00 the TAX bill is over $1,000.00 per month.
PLEASE consider our qwest for improvement.

I live in the corner of Captain Thomas and First Avenue and last year we actually had some drag racing cut accros our corner lawn. Years ago I requested a traffic light at the end of Captain Thomas but all we got was a stop sign with a blinking red light, this after annual accidents involving cars crashing against the house at the end of the boulevard...As West Haven gets involved in the new development of the waterfront more traffic will surely come our way towards the beach. Is there any planning going on for this future issue? Please post if there is a meeting we should all be attending. I will be happy to participate.
