My street has not been plowed also--as have most of the residents of the city that don't live on major arteries or State roads. Walk to work. Cant' walk? Then don't live so far from your job. Patience is a long lost virtue, bring it back. Sorry, for the bluntness but these posts are ridiculous, stop whining, this is the worst winter storm in 100 years! No exaggeration--we live in the state where it snows a lot on occasion and there will be times where not even the Govt. can save you.
The reason people are writing about where the plows have NOT been is bc Ben Berkowitz sent out an email before the storm encouraging us to use SCF. And see below - posted on the NH Reg site. Ben is a personal friend, we are just doing our part. If we have to we will walk to work, etc. But we are just doing what our friend asked. I do think that there is someone in city hall making decisions about prioritization and we do all have to trust that these decisions are being made in a logical and fair way and that no one there is really looking at SCF to see where the plows should go next. But in case they are, we are following Ben's request....
"You can use this SeeClickFix map during the storm to report problems and to volunteer to help your neighbors in the New Haven County area. Use the keyword "snow." This map can be used alert your local government to the exact location unplowed roads and public spaces. Or, it can be used to post requests for assistance with shoveling and to volunteer to help neighbors with shoveling."
I echo the call for patience. Use SCF for more pressing and less obvious issues. The NH Independent has been good about keeping us apprised of the city's issues and progress.
Try to enjoy this historic event by playing in the snow or lending a neighbor a hand...
Good morning. The City of New Haven is asking all residents to continue to be patient and understanding. We do not expect non-arterials to be cleared until Monday, possibly Tuesday. The biggest issue is where do you put 34" of snow that falls in 24 hours. Stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy the time with your family and friends. Check on your neighbors to see if anyone needs anything. Everything will get back to normal by the middle of the week.
If you need anything, please don't hesitate to call me - 203-309-2737 - or call the city at 203-946-SNOW.
Thanks Doug for the update you seem to be the only one on top of the real time updates. Be Advised UPPER WESTVILLE AND BEVERLY HILLS: For updates check out the city website at http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/EmergencyInfo/index.asp or call 203-946-SNOW. If you need some non emergency help from a neighbor feel free to call 203-387-2752, im over on Ray Road. Just state your street address and we will see what we can do. I will be out throughout Beverly Hills and Upper Westville, shovel in hand, if you need help with pathways. Otherwise, I highly suggest that everyone just stay put and chip away at what you can. Many streets have not been plowed. Fountain street has been plowed, otherwise if your street hasn't been plowed you can expect a response over the next two days. As streets clear up I will keep you updated. But team up with neighbors and create walk way access that can be helpful.
Central Ave hasnt even been addressed. We arent asking for a full plow clean but at least a strip down the streets would give us some freedom while we wait for a full clean and emergency vehicles access. We have A LOT of elders and special needs adults in St Aedens area....none of our streets have been touched!
By today, 2/13/13, we have made your street passable. If not please call Emergency Operations Center at (203) 946 – 8821 or Department of Public Works at (203) 946 -7700. We continue to work on snow removal. Check city website:www.cityofnewhaven.com for emergency snow removal notices or sign up for the city’s emergency info system at
http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/EmergencyInfo/optin.asp Thanks for your patience.
Our snow emergency work has been completed. If your snow issue hasn't been addressed, please reopen or resubmit the issue with more information to See Click Fix. Thanks for your patience.
