Description
River Road is a speedway and very congested by the gas station. Peak times is a nightmare and I've seen numerous close calls between cars. Need to regulate the flow of traffic and slow it down for safety reasons.

Listen up kids, 3 weeks ago a lady was involved with an accident there and I watched the cop give her a DUI check in broad daylight in the Cumberland farms parking lot, I had to laugh at the cop becasue he looked like a total buffoon using her to send a message out to the passing cars. Everybody knows why she got into an accident there it is because that Longhill ave rt 110 is super dangerous and almost impossible at times to get on WITHOUT A TRAFFIC LIGHT.
There have been endless accidents at that very spot and deaths as well.
It is the state of CT that will not put a light there. I had face to face talks with retired Rep Doc Gunther and for years he tired convincing the state to put a light there but to be always shutdown becasue the state claims there are too many lights from Sikorsky's to Cumberland Farms.
Check this out the state actually countes that old blinking light that is just a few feet before AJ's garage coming from Sikorsky.
Now pushing back towards Sikorsky about 300 feet before Warner Hill road the state also counts that light that is barely ever used only when a car or two or a truck is coming out of that outside parking lot at Sikorsky.
Then they count the Warner Hill road light.. Then they count the light at the far end of Sikorsky just before merrit parkway entrance.
So you see ladies and gents there is an error by the state here that has caused death and injury and major accidents.. The state is counting 2 lights that do nothing at all. The town of Shelton has been plagued by very stupid police chiefs and ignorant mayors who cannot relate this information to the proper state officials..
SO MORE DEATH will come at the long hill ave rt 110 intersection until a light is put up there and SLOW CARS DOWN on rt 110. And dont forget to stir into the danger stew soup that the sports center is now filled with thousands of kids and customers daily.

I agree!
I'd be curious to know the statistics of fender benders and major car fatalities over the last 10 years in that area.
Maybe a traffic study for the volume of cars needs to be conducted by the city/state.
I hope more area residents voice their opinions and maybe contact local/state officials.

OMG! A successful business that attracts lots of customers and an employer that provides income to its employees and keeps real estate prices from collapsing. This must be stopped!
If another bridge was built across the river in between Derby and Sikorsky (one that trucks could use), how much clearance would it require for boat traffic? (assuming it wasn't a draw bridge)
