The bike rack inside of the Howe Street parking garage is great--it is large, well-lit, and right next to the Yale Security Office. The problem is, people have locked up bikes there over a year ago and left them to rust, taking up precious parking spaces. When this many bikes are over-rusted and abandoned, it gives the impression that the rack is not in use, making it more vulnerable to theft. They need to be tagged, impounded, and removed, so that the commuters who actually use this rack can have the space to lock our bikes.

the management could adopt the practice that union station has, where they put a ring of paper around a wheel with the date on them, and any left after 30 days are removed.
they had gotten pretty lax about it, making train station parking really challenging, but when i mentioned it in person to the security folks, they started doing it the next day...
