Theres a newer post regarding another park in Meriden which mentions hypodermic needle was observed in the childrens play area. I posted an honest opinion and a City official took time to attack my honest opinion on that post.
Sadly he showed a lack of concern by not addressing the more serious issue of the original post; a hypodermic needle found in childrens' play area.
Sad isn't it

Mr Kendzoir, I've decided this will be my last rebuttle to your comments. We can't all be imaging what is obvious observation within our City.
Instead of defending lack of maintenance of the obvious, come up with solutions. Perhaps the City can initiate a volunteer system for the parks, like old fashion meter maids; to observe the inconsiderate citizens who are leaving trash etc behind improperly, not following the law regarding cleaning up after their pets, etc. at our parks Let them hand out tickets. I know I'd volunteer for something like that, get to spend a day or two (weekends) enjoying the sunshine and surroundings. Unknown to anyone I have provided voluteer services each time I see a discarded hazard; I take the time to pick things up and properly discard it in the first trash can I come upon. Even when shopping, if I see a small spill or broken glass on the floor I immediately stop shopping, walk up to the customer service desk and alert someone of the harazd so the store can avoid a possible law suit.
The town I originate from had a great volunteer service provided called "adopt a street" People, truly concerned about where they live, would pledge/commit to making sure their adopted area was kept somewhat presentable. (Service provided without tax dollars involved)
We have people who are ordered by the courts to do community service. Instead of those individuals sitting idle or doing as little as possible to get the hours, look into if these individuals can provide services for us such as cleaning our parks and recreation areas. (obviously not to be considered when its an issue of health hazard like needles in our parks)
Woodstock CT area has a very well maintained and clean recycling area. I was quite impressed with the system they had when my brother (homowner in Woodstock) too me with him to take his recyclables in. People go there to recycle houshold items, putting them in different designated areas for each type of item. They also have an area called "the shed" where people put items that are still usable and too good to just throw out. My eyes lit up when I saw all the useful items in "the shed" all free to those who can use them. I used the City of Meriden website to submit a suggestion that perhaps Meriden can do something like this. And nothing came of the suggestion, not even a response from a city official thanking me for my suggestion and it would be looked into.
Our elected officials can learn alot from other city/town's where minimal issues are reported by citizens; again, some fixes at no cost to the taxpayers
As far as the deterioration of roads here in Meriden.....not the fault of the citizens, tis fault of neglect
The End

The maintenance of the park is as of this writing in MY opinion a solid "A" .
As a matter of fact I even saw a city maintainance pickup truck driving through the park area (On a Sunday!) looking for garbage.
I made a complaint here last year about overflowing garbage cans in the Park and the City has really stepped up to the plate I am very impressed, Thank you Meriden Employees! GREAT Job!
