Well don't expect the City of Raleigh to cover your injuries or losses if you trip and fall on one of their buckled sidewalks. They'll tell you its your responsibility to watch your feet, not theirs to maintain even sidewalks.

Actually, the City Council has changed their policy as of this year, and has set aside resources to do repairs on sidewalks, which were formerly the responsibility of the abutting property owner. There is also a bond issue that will be voted upon this October that includes additional resources for sidewalk improvements throughout the City. Should this pass, our ability to respond quickly to issues like this will improve. The City of Raleigh maintains over 1000 miles of streets within our City Limits. The vast majority of repairs on street infrastructure are taken care of within a week to two weeks of reporting. For all See Click Fix inquiries over the past quarter the median time from reporting to closing is 2.8 days. 38.5% of the issues were closed within 1 day. These are not all street maintenance issues, of course, but we try very hard to provide quality service to our citizens in a time when we have very constrained staffing and resources to do so.

Thank you for the quick response. Since the policy has changed this year and I took a fall a couple of months ago, seems the city would be willing to pay my small medical claim. But they don't want to. Seems like politics at work.
