Every time this landlord cleans his yard he blows all the debris into the neighbors yards and into the street. Every time, over and over, and the city does nothing. SeeClickFix is mostly a cynical way for the city to have citizens spend their energy reporting problems, so the administration doesn't have to listen. This type of complaint is a good example. I can repeat it en español if it will help Justin Elicker understand it.

I almost had an accident AGAIN pulling slowly onto Winchester, because all visibility was blocked by this white Nissan Rogue that is parked in the bus stop almost every single friggin day without getting a ticket. This is one of the many reasons I voted for someone new.
  • 31 Woodland St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Dixwell
Complete abdication of parking enforcement on Woodland, Mansfield, Compton, Tilton. Residents who use visitor tags, Yale workers who commute and park here, and people that routinely park here with no pretense of having a tag at all, day after day, month after month, year after year. And the city does nothing.

VOTE if you want the city to plow the snow on BOTH sides of the street!
New Haven's policy of only ever plowing the odd side of residential streets is wacky.
Now that the odd side is more or less clear, we won't be able to park back on the even side for the next storm, because it will be blocked by frozen piles of snow left behind from people digging themselves out.
VOTE if you want the city to have a second day of plowing the EVEN side of the street, when everyone should move to the ODD side.

half the cars parked on Compton Street do not have resident parking permits.
  • 122 Mansfield St New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
A week ago these people just threw their trash on the grass strip. Nothing bundled for pickup, nothing in bins. Some of it was picked up on garbage day, but some is left. What can we do to teach these people that this kind of behavior is inconsiderate of all their neighbors, and that it is not the way to get rid of things you don't want? Where is the owner? Why are they not cleaning it up?
  • 23 Compton Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
Tonight, for the second time in a week, there was a Yale hockey game, and there was absolutely no enforcement of parking regulations. Mansfield Street resident-only parking was jammed with violators, and residents could not park in their own neighborhood. Compton Street had cars parked on the prohibited side of the street, half-on and half-on the sidewalk. No enforcement whatsoever. The city looks the other way. A major, planned event that everyone knows will bring in a large number of people and cars, and absolutely no attempt to handle the impact on the neighborhood.
No tickets, no towing. We are tired of selective enforcement of parking in this city. If you are a minute over on a meter downtown you get ticketed, but we have to demand enforcement in our neighborhood. Yale is also responsible. They should be required to provide parking for ticket holders if they are going to hold large events. With construction of the new residential colleges, this will be a more frequent problem, and Yale will do nothing to mitigate the impact on the neighborhood. They have constructed no additional parking for the new dorms, and obviously just plan on the city continuing its past practice of ignoring problems that are inconvenient to Yale. This is another example of New Haven failing int job of providing a ¨liveable city".
We appreciate that a patrol car responded to our calls to at least ticket the cars that were parked half up on the sidewalk on the no-parking side of the street, but the police did not have the time to ticket the other hundred cars that should have been ticketed.
  • 124 Mansfield Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
124 Mansfield Street "cleaned" their property of leaves, and blew them all into the street (1 day after street cleaning, no less!). Soon their leaves will be spread throughout the yards of people who raked and bagged their leaves properly. This is so selfish!
  • 85 Sachem Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
There used to be a stop sign at the corner of Sachem and Winchester for people making the right onto Winchester. There is a "yield to pedestrian" sign, but it isn't enough. You can see at the upper portion of the sign post where the sign used to be. When we walk to and from work, often people do not stop for us in the crosswalk. This is very dangerous. Please put the stop sign back so drivers have to stop.

Liquor store owner has had trash and rubble thrown on property for more than a month. The last thing our neighborhood needs is people trashing out their own property. Everyone deserves time to get rid of their stuff, but 4-5 weeks is ridiculous. At least the cardboard, and the broken toys could have been put out neatly for recycling 5 times already-- how lazy is that? We are sick of looking at this mess every time we walk by. This business and resident need to be more responsible about the community, and that includes the trash they generate from customers who litter the area with alcohol containers. Please make them clean this mess up!
  • Woodland Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
There is NO place to park on the street with sweeping restrictions in place, and the reason is that TONS of the cars either have no resident permit, or belong to residents who use other people's visitor tags EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR, and the city does nothing about it. The city has known for a long time that this system does not work, but they don't want to take the responsibility of fixing it. Today would be a good day to ticket cars on Mansfield, Compton, Woodland, Tilton, and part of Winchester.
  • Mansfield Street New Haven, Connecticut - Prospect Hill
This morning a random count of the first 15 cars parked, from Sachem to Compton on Mansfield, showed that 11 of 15 cars used visitors tags. How is this even possible? Some of these cars have parked here for YEARS, and 2 of the 11 actually had LAST YEAR'S visitor tags? Too many people who live here have their cars registered to other addresses, many of them out of state, and obtain visitor tags from other people. Just because grad students plan on someday moving out of New Haven does not mean they have no responsibilities here. The system is unfair, and with the horrible snow cleanup, creates hardship to honest people who pay their taxes.
  • Stadhouderskade 6 Amsterdam, - Amsterdam
Granted, I don't know all the rules here, but it seems to me that when pedestrians have the green walk light and are in the crosswalk, that bicyclists MUST give them the right of way. I have never seen them obey that basic law since my stay in Amsterdam, which is, in many other respects, a model city. Neither have I seen any police nearby enforcing traffic rule, making Amsterdam much more similar to the U.S.

This van parks every day and never gets ticketed. If you are downtown you can get a ticket for being two minutes over on the meter. How about some fairness in this city? I pay my car tax and my resident sticker, but it doesn't help me when there is no place to park because of these cheaters.
