Please adjust the traffic signal timing at this intersection. It's currently very slow to respond to waiting cars, even when there is no cross traffic (nor pedestrians) around. It gives a green light for protected left turns when there are no cars turning. Overall, it's just a big, slow, unresponsive mess.

Compare it to the traffic signal at Webster & Willie Stargell, which is a much busier intersection, yet is much more responsive and efficient.

2nd St & Hetherton St San Rafael, CA, 94901, USA - San Rafael

On Feb 4 or 5, 2024, several traffic lights on 2nd St near the SMART train tracks lost power due to a storm. While power was restored everywhere else, these traffic lights remained off for 2+ days. Temporary stop signs were placed on easels at the intersections.

Public Works officials told me PG&E was to blame (apparently it was an extended power outage just at these intersections).

I would like to request that the City have a backup plan for providing generator power to traffic lights at key intersections throughout the city. (There are way too many traffic lights to do this for all of them, but they can be prioritized by volume of traffic they handle, and safety, e.g., SMART train intersections.)

Mill Valley and other cities already do this. When there is an extended power outage, before the backup batteries die, MVPD officers place a small portable generators next to the traffic signal control cabinet (chained up to prevent theft) and plug it into a dedicated generator receptacle on the side of the cabinet. The traffic light will remain working indefinitely as long as they keep the generator fueled up.

From my conversation with S.R. Public Works, a system like this is not currently in place, so I am requesting that it be added. And I was told that SeeClickFix is the best place to log this request.

    Thank you.

On 2nd St between Hayes St and Shaver St, the pavement lane striping includes a strange shoulder or pull-out painted on the right side. It's not quite the width of a full lane, but it's wide enough that drivers not familiar with the area change lanes to the right into it thinking it's a 3rd lane opening up, but instead it's a "false" lane and they're forced to merge back to the left before Shaver St. This weird "false" right lane serves no apparent purpose and only serves to confuse drivers. Was someone on drugs when they designed it? Like seriously, it has me asking some deep philosophical questions. Please fix it.

Do Not Enter sign (marking the one-way section of Main St approaching Cypress St) is blocked by Eucalyptus trees.

Weeds/tall grasses need to be mowed along Main St where cars park on the side of the road for the ferry. Cars parking over tall dry grasses could start a fire.
  • Broadway & 5th St Oakland, CA, 94607, USA - Old City-Produce And Waterfront
For cars traveling northbound on Broadway approaching 5th St and the Webster tube, there are no painted arrows or signs indicating which lanes can go which directions In particular, it is unclear whether the center land can turn right into the tube. Clarifying this would reduce traffic congestion and improve pedestrian safety. It would also be good to remove the crosswalk on the east side of Broadway and only allow pedestrians to cross on the west side of Broadway. Pedestrians cause major traffic backups for cars trying to enter the tube. Also, this is a MAJOR intersection and should have sensors (loop detectors or cameras) and not be timed.

Pedestrian crossing button (to cross 3rd St) is triggered on every cycle, even though there are no pedestrians pushing the button.

The traffic light at W Atlantic Ave & 3rd Street seems to have a faulty inductive loop on 3rd St or Mosely. The traffic light keeps turning green for non-existent traffic on Mosely / 3rd St, which causes the main flow of traffic on W Atlantic to need to stop unnecessarily, and causes a very short phase for left turns from W Atlantic onto 3rd. (Note: I already reported this issue under Issue ID: 3409704 and it was marked as completed TWICE. It STILL is not fixed. Please contact me if you don't understand what I'm reporting.)
