We have seen an increase in speeding along McFarlin Lane for months now (ever since Ashton Woods began building their neighborhood - a neighborhood that now attaches to and through Braeburn). Every morning, there are large dump trucks, 18-wheelers and other construction vehicles going well over the 25 mph speed limit. We also have an enormous amount of cars using the neighborhood road as a cut-through in order to avoid traveling on Crabapple Road and Birmingham Highway during peak hours. Please address this issue before 1 of our 50+ children who live on McFarlin get injured. If police would just monitor the situation one day between 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. and then again in the afternoon, 4: 30 - 6:30 p.m., they'd be amazed at the speeds high school kids and business workers are able to travel at.

I live in the adjacent neighborhood Crabapple Crossroads on the main entrance to the new Ashton Woods subdivision and can also attest to speeding construction vehicles through our neighborhood.
However, this issue is not limited to construction vehicles. A few of our neighbors in the Braeburn neighborhood unfortunately do not observe a safe speed when using Nakomis Place to leave or return to their homes. Each and every day, numerous cars drive too fast through the section between the Braeburn entrance and the playground (where kids play every day) and between the adjacent circle and stop sign at the corner of Lecoma Trace. One vehicle in particular, a white Tahoe with an LSU tag drives especially fast and the gentleman who uses that vehicle should be cautioned that he is endangering children and simply needs to slow down.
I agree this issue needs to be addressed by both Milton police and by the developer Ashton Woods. The developer should not tolerate anyone involved with the construction to speed through our neighborhood. There is absolutenly no excuse to drive fast in neighborhoods, and this is especially true with both of ours since we have so many young children.
