I have repeatedly BEGGED the City to address this. Sent photos. The response? The alley team's equipment breaks down and they are focused on leaf collection (leaf collection!) not safety issues. This is what the city needs to be focused on, not baseball stadiums.

Tell me again why we have to have a new baseball stadium? What is wrong with the one the city has now!? Can the city not maintain an alley? Can the city maintain a new stadium? Should the 7th district councilman Cynthia Newbille be more concerned with the safety of the lives who may vote her out than the building of a stadium.... Perhaps more revenue would flow into the City if the city would invest into caring for what we allready have built.

Alley s all over sector 111 & 113 of the 7th District look like this, roaming with wild dogs and garbage, looks like Afghanistan.

Please don't turn this into a stadium conversation - this is about an alley that needs attention. Ranting about non-related issues doesn't help at all.

@ Liz, the City's lack of competance in maintaining a simple alley is the reason the City also fails at maintaining structures. When a city is unable to keep the arteries clear and viable for the flow of life, through roads and services, the organs of the body die. No mater how much money is thrown into replacement of a structure, the lifelines of the City Must be maintained or the life of the City shall perish.

If a City wants to flourish, it is NOT about attracting new revenue schemes, it IS ABOUT Keeping the residents of the City from moving away due to lack of simple functionin services, quality of public schools, And job opportunities.

It is a trickle down affect. A firm foundation crack is all it takes when the eye is turned towards the money.

Your concern has been received and forwarded to the Department of Public Works (CRS# 20020886127 for alley repair) so that proper inspection and handling can take place accordingly. This team has had problems with equipment breakage in regards to motor graders that break and need repair and may have broken again and back in the shop. Also members of the Alley Team are engaged in leaf and/ or snow removal services right now. Regardless, please know the City of Richmond is endeared to addressing your alley repair needs as soon as possible and this case file is still under review and being continually monitored for servicing. This is NOT a quick acknowledgement. In fact it is a form response. I received the exact same response each time I have put in a request on this.

Note that in my initial comment to this thread, I mentioned the leaf collection and the broken equipment issue because I had gotten this response in the past.

The alley repairs were completed on 6/11. Your issue is now closed. Thank you for doing your part to help build a better Richmond.
