Call your Police Substation District Manager. If you're not sure who that is, call Sgt. Richard Miller at Hil South 203-946-7504. Leave him your name, phone number and issue. He WILL call you back. The drug sales in the Hill is an ongoing battle with pockets on Lamberton, Rosette, Frank, West, Truman ... but the SIU and Major Crimes ARE in the area and they ARE making arrests. You can also contact Lt. Jeff Hoffman by email at jhoffman@newhavenct.net. Give them details, description of the dealers and call NHPD 203-946-6316 constantly - you need to give them your name and telephone number and tell them you want a patrol car but you only want to speak to an officer by phone. This will bring attention to that location by the NHPD. Believe it or not, they DO need our help so keep up the good work. AND they DO read this web site also.
No the problem is ongoing. the bigger problem is that it's a family owned house. the owners know everything that's going on and they are okay with it. Where does RICO figure in enforcing drug laws against knowing property owners.
The only way that is going to get resolved is by calling the police department, getting plates of vehicles if possible that are purchasing the drugs... if there is no results in response from the police, then write a letter directly to the chief of police and one to the mayor....
You MUST call the police everytime you see drug buys taking place. Contact Lt Holly Wasilewski (call 203-946-7504) if she is not there - leave your name and number and ask her to call you back. In the meantime, take license plate numbers, record description of the dealers, and provide her with all that information. The police cannot do anything if you don't give them information to work on. And clikfix will not fix this ... YOU MUST CALL and tell Lt Holly. It will getg done - cases take time to build ... but it is working on Truman Street!!!
SECTION 8 VOUCHER REVOKED!!
For the first time ever, New Haven Housing Authority finally has decided to follow HUD guidelines and revoke the Section 8 voucher of tenant at 299 Greenwich Ave due to persistent gun & drug arrests at this address. (Unfortunately, this is NOT a guarantee that they’ll be moving: if they continue to pay rent with their OWN money the landlord can continue to keep them there—in which case, our next step is to go after the landlord.)
SO HOW WAS THIS ACCOMPLISHED? Because NEIGHBORS were willing to keep the police updated about the illegal activity taking place at 299 Greenwich so that a HISTORY of police reports and arrests could be accumulated. IF THERE’S NO OFFICIAL RECORD OF COMPLAINTS, ETC. THEN POLICE & HOUSING AUTHORITY CAN DO NOTHING.
If this can work on Greenwich Ave., it can work on this street.
Police narcotics anonymous tip line: 203-946-6098 or crime incident investigations and Wanted Persons anonymous tip line: 1-866-888-TIPS(8477) (or our District Manager, Lt. Holly Wasilewski 203-687-0529). You never have to give your name. If you don’t want the police to be able to see your number on caller ID, first press *67 then dial the tip line number.
The success we had on Greenwich Ave. can't happen on YOUR street without YOU.
Drug activity is still ongoing. One of the dealers who had been apparently incarcerated came out and is back again doing the dealing. Ned to have laws forcing property owner to deal with problem. this particular property owner is part of the problem.
If the property owner is aware of the problem and has been "officially" notified (e.g by police or by forwarding a copy of this SeeClickFix issue to the owner via certified mail) but the owner fails to evict the offending tenant, then the state can seize the property. Unfortuately this rarely happens--because people don't follow through on each step that has to take place. (And this requires patience: it took us 2 years to get the section 8 voucher revoked at 299 Greenwich!)
But the process has to BEGIN by REPORTING the activity to the police EVERY TIME you see it, so it's DOCUMENTED. See my previous post about numbers to call.
Power to the People! (the GOOD people!)
So a bigger "prize" for the cops to seize. Keep the cops' phone ringing, Nilda! (For your protection, first press *67 before dialing the number: then not even the police can ID your call. So your anonymity is assured.)
I just notified Lt. Holly Wasilewski & Lt.Jeff Hoffmann, but I only told them what's here on SeeClickFix. Any details you can provide will help, Nilda: time of day they deal, car marker numbers, description of dealers, etc. etc. Remember, dial *67 first.
Issue from 2011, so I'm closing it but thank you for reporting concerns about suspicious activity. If you have concerns now, please open a new issue in the "policing issue" category.

This, of course, would be the ultimate solution to the problem: a solution opposed by both Democrats & Republicans.
