There is a new sign posted up that legitimately just says “no right turn.” It doesn’t say no right turn on red. So what is the right most lane for coming off of RT8 then? If it’s going to be a no turn on red, at least have the decency to add a turn light for when the traffic coming from Division St on the side with Stop and Shop is going. Why are we penalizing all with an inconvenience when the few that cut off cars or plain don’t stop at their light first could simply be ticketed?

Sorry for the delay in responding on this one but it has taken me some time to figure out what sign you were referring to. I assume now that you are referring to the right hand turn from Pershing Drive northbound onto Division Street eastbound toward Route 115 ( S. Main St./Derby Avenue) and that you are referring to the activated sign that is illuminated.
If this is the sign you are referring to it is only illuminated when the train is passing on Division Street and the railroad safety gates are closed, preventing vehicular movement in any direction. The sign prohibits right turns in order to prevent queuing of vehicles in the short area between the railroad safety gates and the Pershing Drive intersection. This movement is only prevented while the intersection signal is out of cycle, the trains are passing and the safety gates are closed.
If this is not the “no right turn” sign that you were referencing, please respond with more specific information and I will attempt to either answer or have the sign either revised or removed if it is not appropriate. However, I have inspected the intersection and can find no signage prohibiting a right hand turn from a right lane, other than the illuminated sign that is activated by the railroad safety circuit. But I’m happy to assist if there is something else wrong that I missed. 🙂
