This is a direct result of no homeless shelters and lack of homeless programs in Solano County.
COV, the balls in your court, please act quickly to build a shelter or at the very least an outdoor city sanctioned tent city with dumpsters and porta potties to consolidate all these encampments into one.

I agree this area needs cleaning, but we need actual solutions because every time we move these folks along they just go somewhere else and the problem starts again.

Agreed, there should be a designated spot with basic sanitation and garbage collection. This encampment is getting larger and waiting will not help.

You really want to see an encampment and a total pollution of our waterways, drive about 200 yards east on wilson ave towards sacramento st and look to the left out into the marsh down off the roadway. Total out of control filth, garbage, and at least 10 homeless camps. Was informed by a san and flood employee that the city knows of this site and has does nothing about it. Well im reporting it. This is shameful and disgusting. Why should we the people put up with these vagrants who destroy everything they come in contact with. Us citizens cant enjoy the area because of all the contamination. Once again the city is dragging their feet.

If only the sympathizers would do something productive like actually pay extra taxes,open a camp and endlessly manage them. The sympathizers don't seem to notice all the blight and bad behavior. How do you fix this as homes won't solve this alone. I am content to run them out of town endlessly instead or at the very least a camp with their bad behavior contained in the camp and not negatively impact the neighborhood. The only ones whom might deserve sympathy are the ones whom don't have bad behavior and content to live amongst trash and which have fallen on hard times beyond their control. Not by perpetual bad decisions and behavior. Do they even exist in these encampments?

You consider them residence? Really. What do they contribute to to the city of Vallejo? Taxes, do they work and pay taxes to keep the city operating? No they cost the city, and that means we who live here and do our fair share of contributing to the coffers have to pay for these people.

Dee, I comment on dumping when we know who it is like a description license plate etc..otherwise why bother. When I see a homeless encampment surrounded by trash it looks like we know who is littering. I don't comment on homeless who don't litter. You are simply judging me and trying to create something negative when it doesn't exist. If you weren't too busy negatively judging me you see the positive part also. I am for some type of camp or tuff shed community which I have said numerous times here, but when I say it I get accused of wanting concentration camps when JW says it he gets applause. Yes sometimes I call it boot camps because of the frustration of the complacent blight of the homeless. I can only help and care so much when they aren't showing they care to help themselves. I don't complain about homeless in my neighborhood until they litter or do inexcusable acts. Unfortunately at least 90% of them litter though. I am the only one whom seems to pick up after them in my neighborhood so you will see my frustration in plain view especially when someone sticks up for their bad behavior. Being homeless doesn't give you cart blanche for bad behavior.

This is State, County and Fish & Wild life property. We have made all agencies aware of this issue. State has cleaned up their portion.

Christina E., thanks for letting us know the status. Sounds like this might be something that is perpetual in this area as it has overlapping responsibilities.

You people at the city amaze me. Everyone puts it off on someone else. Why not work with the state , county and fish and wildlife and clean it all up? The state, county and fish and wildlife dont have to look at it as we do everyday. They could care less , unless pushed into doing something. No cord-nation between local and state entities.

And aren’t we (Vallejo) part of the County & State and that should give us the right to deal with it? I doubt Fish & Wildlife would prosecute city workers for clearing this property. I get not using City funds for private property and trying to get the owner to comply, but this is not the case here. A solution for this reoccurring problem of accessing property needs to be found.

Jw, that's part of the problem. People don't care until it personally affects them. They only want an immediate solution when it's parked out front, behind their home, or down the street. If it's across town...So what? We must demand that the CoV becomes proactive in finding solutions for Vallejo's homeless population. Otherwise, Vallejo could become the next skid row or tent city.

Artsem, the city will not touch it if it isnt on their property! You know that. Look at the railroad tracks, i pushed the issue as you did to where we each contacted Mr. Harrison to resolve the problem. The city had no part of cleaning the tracks. The, the COV, still wont recognize their own tracks! The cov has to be goaded into doing anything beyond their own property, even if runs right through the main part of Vallejo, Sonoma Blvd, case in point!

Deej, the city has no intention of addressing the homeless issue, they have more important items on their agenda, like the new police station, the new sewer pipe across the napa river, improvement of the north end of Mare island and on and on and on. Millions and millions are being spent on these projects. Homelessness isnt even on their radar, and it shows! Skid row, tent city isnt to far in this cities future the rate their going.

This is not City Property however the Community Service Section (CSS) does work with these agencies in assisting them in identifying nuisance on their property and assisting them to remove the campers so that they can clean the property up.

CSS has been coordinating quarterly county wide outreaches with Solano County Sheriff, California CHP, CalTrans, Fish and Wildlife, Solano County Social Services and Mental Health along with many non profit organizations since 2015. We also alert them weekly of any nuisances on their property and assist them whenever requested to remove the campers however we can only assist we can not be the enforcement arm.

We also can not ignore our own workload to do other agencies enforcement as we do not have the staffing or jurisdiction to take this on. We do appreciate all of your concern about this issue and please feel free to contact the proper agency to report the issue as they do not monitor this site.

Maybe its time we plan a protest. We can't expect our city officials to care about these issues if they won't even live here. We definitely need to remember who failed to act on our behalf when we go back to the polls

And again with the example of the CNR railroad tracks, who do you think Mr. Harrison calls to evict them when it comes time? Who is Fish & Wildlife going to call? Do they have officers equipped to deal with this? We still end up using city resources, either way. If just one official will figure it out sooner or later..... or the city can keep going right down the tubes like has been.
