This dilapidated property at 3514 Briel Street (as not seen in this photo, thanks to the overgrowth) is the scourge of the Oakwood neighborhood. These blocks are enjoying development and beautification. However, the owner, Mr. Hiwott, seems to get special treatment by the City of Richmond - and has for years. The City has done NOTHING to eradicate the eyesore that is his house and his "lawn." How he manages to reside in it and still get away with doing absolutely nothing strikes us as nothing short of favoritism. Especially those of us who get abatement notices for much smaller infractions than his. It's time he be held accountable like the rest of us.
