At that same intersection the house on the corner of Brookhurst and North Peachtree their hedge is protruding out into the sidewalk to the point that if you are trying to make a left turn from Brookhurst to North Peachtree you have to be over the crosswalk in order to see oncoming traffic. Peachtree Middle School kids are walking at that time of day (8:00 am hour) and if you are stuck in the crosswalk trying to see and a child comes up to cross over Brookhurst they either have to walk in N. Peachtree Street or behind the car. Not a safe situation. Homeowner needs to drastically remove hedge from sidewalk area so that cars can easily see oncoming traffic. This problem "supposedly" was corrected but if it was it was not sufficient to be able to see traffic.

I concur with Mary's comment. In order to see on-coming southbound traffic, I have to drive across the crosswalk at Brookhurst to see because the hedges are way too big and a sight block. And I drive an SUV. It also doesn't help that people are parking at this intersection on both sides in the No Parking zones. I've called Dunwoody Police numerous mornings this semester, but not sure if they are giving tickets. I've gotten shoulder shrugs when I tell people they are parked illegally.

The city is considering many solutions, including this one, to improve morning traffic on North Peachtree Road.

This is good to hear! Can we utilize the new Dunwoody Citizen Patrol to provide warnings to those parking illegally or using our driveways as turn arounds? The past couple of years, once people got a few tickets, everyone tended to park away from the intersection on their own (but still had the occasional violator).

For the bushes at 2262 Brookhurst, I see that GDOT's manuals suggest that a driver with eye height 3.5' feet above the ground should be able to see a car 390' away (both to the left and right) at 15' back from the curb, for a 2-lane road with a 35mph speed limit. We can't even see 10 feet. If these bushes can't be maintained by the homeowner at 3.5', then they need to be moved or removed. Kids having to walk between cars that are forced to ease into the intersection just to see is dangerous and some of these kids are short enough to "disappear". I think children's safety should outweigh an individual's right to obstruct sight distance. If this were a fence, these heights would never be allowed.
