I thought the intersection in question was the one on Valley and Blake, although the one on Whalley and Blake is also bad. I completely agree. Jaywalking on Blake is often safer than trying to cross at these intersections. The only thing that might help would be to move or have another light a little farther down Blake or maybe a speed bump and more enforcement. Sometimes it gets so bad it would seem we need more pedestrian bridges. The pedestrian crossings with signs and lights (no traffic light) are almost universally ignored.

Crossing Whalley at Blake continues to be hazardous because nothing stops cars from turning right without stopping on the red light, including a pedestrian in the crosswalk. Remains a scary intersection to cross.

Westville has been without a NHPD District Manager for some time so some enforcement issues has gone by the wayside. But now, Westville has a new District Manager, Lt Colon. I would urge all those with policing concerns as well as other neighborhood concerns to attend the monthly Community Management Team meetings. The intersection is still dangerous for pedestrians. the intentionally, very obnoxious flashing lights and walkway patterns now appearing at certain pedestrian crosswalks (whitney at audubon) may improve the safety issue.

Almost got wacked at Blake and Valley last week crossing with my wife. I try to make it a policy of never crossing at any intersection in NH even when I have the cross signal unless I am sure that everyone has come to a complete stop and I 've caught their eye or there is no traffic at all in sight.

We pay the police all that money and there is virtually no I repeat no traffic enforcement. Its boring and you have to get out of your car so they just don't do it.

This is still a scary place to be a pedestrian- someone drives through the crosswalk almost every time i've crossed here. can we get the flashing yellow crosswalk like on whitney ave at audubon or around yale, or at the least, a 'no turn on red sign?'
