As reported, we are diligent about removing standing water. Our properties abut Kimberly Field and the heavy vegetation along the perimeter is a breeding ground. As far as wearing appropriate clothing, it's mid-July, and prevailing temperatures are not conducive to being covered up head to toe in the middle of the day.

Is there an ETA of the DEEP permit? Late July to early August is ambiguous, and West Nile has already been discovered in West Haven which is a few blocks away.

Considering mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile right in WH, waiting a few weeks to start killing them doesn't make much sense.

Any ETA on the DEEP permit??? We're being eaten alive!

The permit was received and DPW has either started treatment or will begin very soon.

If larvicide has been administered, you cannot tell it. We have the tiger mosquitoes here and they bite ALL DAY. We are diligent about getting rid of standing water. I guess this is one year I won't get to enjoy my back yard at all. I don't know what my tax dollars are paying for.

The tiger mosquitoes are extremely aggressive and pretty much impossible to control. They can breed in a single drop of water! The best way to enjoy sitting outside is to set up a large fan, blowing in your direction. Mosquitoes are very weak flyers, so the fan keeps them away. This is what we've started doing--and it works.

Approximately 4000 City catch basins were treated with a mosquito larvicide during the beginning of August. The larvicide remains active at least for 120 days. A Sanitarian shall visit Fifth Street shortly and the issue regarding Kimberly Field shall be forwarded to the Parks Department.

My home is directly adjacent to Kimberly Field and the mosquitos are so bad that even going outside in the middle of the day is difficult. Part of the problem is due to the fact that the grass and weeds in one large area are shoulder high. This area is never cut and resembles a jungle, Approx. 30 feet out from the perimeter fence near the turnpike exi) is completely untouched and has been that way for many years. When the weeds die back in the fall and winter many years of trash they is never cleaned up is exposed, As a tax payer and home owner, I deserve more.
