Descrizione

There is no control of vehicles entering and exiting the Meriton Arise apartments that cross the bike path (and pedestrian footpath) along Epping Road.

At the moment, there are not even any stop signs or warning signs for vehicles exiting the apartments. For vehicles entering there are some totally inadequate caution signs along Epping Road indicating that there are cyclists and pedestrians (see attached).

With only some of the apartments occupied I have already been involved in one, and witnessed another, near miss between an exiting vehicle and a cyclist. Vehicles habitually enter or exit without stopping or even slowing down. Either they all assume that they have right-of-way across the bike path, do not look, or do not anticipate that cyclists can easily be travelling at 30 km/hr or more along that stretch.

The situation will almost inevitably result in injury or death as hundreds of tenants occupy the buildings in the near future. This is potentially extremely dangerous.

9/9/16 update: There is now a Stop sign on the exit, but most vehicles are ignoring it. Most are now stopping on and blocking the bike path while waiting to turn on to Epping Road. I have witnessed several more near misses since I posted this and there are far more vehicles entering and exiting as residents are moving in.
