I walk this section of Marlborough at least four times a week with my three young children. It's an unsafe stretch for pedestrians in a neighborhood with a lot of walkers and runners. I see children walking to West End Middle School along this route, as well as runners from Montgomery Bell Academy, parents with children, neighborhood dog walkers, people headed up Love Hill, etc. It is a high-traffic area for pedestrians and cars, and needs to be made safe.

Please add this sidewalk!!! It is unsafe without one.

When I first moved to this neighborhood (2800 block of Acklen), there was no sidewalk on our block. Having a good sidewalk has made an enormous difference to the quality of life here. We have gotten to know many neighbors when they walk past our house and feel comfortable stopping to chat without worrying about being run over. Many children walk to Eakin and St. Bernard, as did our own children, and we would not have let them do so if there hadn't been a sidewalk.

A navigable walkway would be a benefit to our neighborhood.

Is there a request for sidewalk running where Blair turns into Chesterfield - through to Marlborough? We walk this route all the time from Blair to Elmington Park/West End Middle School & it is extremely unsafe to not have a sidewalk.

Totally agree. This stretch of road needs a proper sidewalk. This neighborhood is full of parents walking with young children (including myself) who would feel much safer with a barrier from cars that tend to drive to quickly through there.

I think a sidewalk extending the entire length of Marlborough up to Acklen is what's really needed, continuing on Acklen to connect with Love Circle. I live on Aclen 3300 block and we have no sidewalk. There are numerous pedestrians on this HIGH traffic road every day . A sidewalk is definitely needed!

I walk a daily loop around the neighborhood and this is the only spot with no sidewalk. This is an area that is traveled by many children who use this street to get to school (West End) and, in the summer time to the pool (located behind West End) The addition of sidewalks would make that pathway much safer.

The stretch on Marlborough between Acklen and Chesterfield is a highly pedestrian /car trafficked area and there is no sidewalk. The loop around Love circle is a cut through for many of the Vandy students and workers and it is very dangerous for a walker to negotiate. Please consider making a change for the safety of the neighborhood.

It's been hit by cars running the stop sign at Marlborough and Acklen. Traffic speeds through to West End way a I've the speed limit. Yet there are many pedestrians--folks going to catch the Vanderbilt shuttle or the bus on West End, jiggers, walkers of dogs, children, babies in strollers. With no sidewalks on Marlborough and most of this stretch of Acklen, we're all endangered.

This stretch without sidewalks is so dangerous! I walk my dogs there frequently.

Having a sidewalk on Marlborough would be a great addition to the neighborhood, especially since there are many pedestrians who walk that stretch of Marlborough to go to school at West End Middle and to Elmington Park.
It would improve safety and increase the number of walkers/exercisers!

This is a heavily-trafficked area (both by pedestrians going to/from the park and school, and by cars cutting through at rush hour). A sidewalk here would improve safety for all.

I agree. Please consider a sidewalk on Chesterfield and Marlborough in this area. The traffic is frequent and heavy, at all hours. The segment on Chesterfield from Marlborough up to Blair is extremely dangerous also and also needs a sidewalk. I live on Marlborough and love our street. There are many, many walkers and joggers, trying to stay safe among the traffic. Thank you.

Yes, please. I often don't walk with my daughter to Elmington from my house on Acklen precisely because there is no stretch of sidewalk right there and I don't like to have the stroller out in the street.

I concur with my neighbors regarding the need for sidewalks on Chesterfield. Additionally, I live on the curve where Blair turns into Chesterfield and would appreciate more signage re: hidden drives. Cars travel around that curve quite fast and I've been in several 'near accidents' just coming out of my drive.

I live on Overlook and agree that a sidewalk along Marlborough is needed. I would suggest extending it up to Acklen Ave. I walk my dog throughout the neighborhood and see many strollers, runners, and other dog walkers having to go into the street, which can be very dangerous, because there isn't continuous sidewalks or safe areas to walk.

I keep getting notifications to close this issue, which I initiated because the sidewalk is uneven, crumbly asphalt of varying widths. Why? It hasn't been addressed. Putting cold patch on a couple of cracks doesn't fix the problem, Public Works.

I also walk this stretch frequently with my children. Soon after this initial posting, more asphalt was poured on the worst parts of the bumpy, thin asphalt that I guess supposedly serves as a sidewalk (and is only on one side of the road). Honestly, it made the problem worse because the "non-sidewalk sidewalk" is even bumpier! I have to push the stroller on the road with two of my children in it while another child rides her bike or walks, so we by necessity extend into the street (because cars park on the road). It's quite dangerous. Please give us a real fix, not a band-aid that makes the situation worse.
