There will be no more speed bumps in Wake Forest, and in fact, the existing ones will be taken up as roads are updated. Research has proven them ineffective at slowing traffic overall and they have caused expensive damage to police, fire, and personal vehicles, as well as slowed first responders down en route to fires or medical emergencies.

We will evaluate the speeds and confirm with the PD about increasing enforcement. The Town does not allow speed tables/bumps any longer. The Concerned Citizen's post above explains it well.

If increasing the WFPD patrols and enforcement, I would highly suggest they park on my culdesac ( Drogheda Pl) or the next side street over (Lochmaben St). People are continually speeding through there (on Glencoe) at night easily doing over double the speed limit and not staying on the correct side of the street. There are also cars constantly peeling out pulling off Glencoe onto Stadium and turning down the service road (I believe it's old Stadium Dr).

The police department will monitor the area for reported speed violations. A speed monitoring sign can be scheduled for statistical data in the future.

Still not seeing WFPD enforcing speed limits in this area. People move way too fast for a residential neighborhood

A mobel speed monitoring sign will be installed today in the 300 block of Glencoe Ave. Data collected will be forwarded to patrol units and the Town Engineer.

Speeding is again a factor on this road as well as Templeridge.

I will pass the traffic concerns to pur patrol division for additional monitoring. Recently, a speed monitoring sign was placed on Glencoe. We will be using this data to prioritize our enforcement efforts.

^^ excellent point. Basically the town is saying they would rather see a child hit or killed than have to pay for a scrape or damage to their apparatus.

The Speed Tables in Reynolds Mill and Bowling Green were constructed under the Town's old policy. They will not be rebuilt nor maintained during any future paving projects. Speed Tables have been proven to be an ineffective way to mitigate speed controls. Studies indicate that speeds actually, increase between the treatments. From what I heard, Raleigh won't install speed bumps either (this was in my in-laws neighborhood) because they pose a hazard for emergency vehicles when responding to an emergency. It was taken up with the HOA for their neighborhood and the HOA installed speed humps so maybe this needs to be taken up with the Staffordshire HOA, not just the town. That could explain how Reynolds Mills and Bowling Green. I highly doubt the town would rather see a kid hit or damage to a town vehicle. They don't just get to spend our tax dollars on whatever they want whenever they want so I am sure there is a valid reason.

I would agree to take it up with the hoa, however they are absolutely useless.

Again, no new speed tables/bumps will be permitted on publically maintained streets.

Good Morning- Public Works, Engineering and Police have monitored this issue throughout the years. We will continue to monitor the area for speeding and safety issues but as the original request is to in stall a speed bump, we are closing out the request at this time. As the chain notes speed tables are an ineffective means to slowing traffic patterns and cause damage to vehicles. Again, we will continue to monitor the situation and keep it on the patrol list.
